I use LinkedIn and Twitter most of all. LinkedIn has already brought me some really good business contacts and makes it much easier to arrange appointments with people you are interested in as you already have a contact point. Twitter is also good for networking but in addition is is great for keeping up with what is going on. BTW I Tweeted this BBC link so that other people could find out about it! |

Yes, I've personally been using LinkedIn for several years. It's great for keeping up with industry colleagues, but is even better for networking through to find new links. |

I also find that using other sites such as www.slideshare.net are useful. I post all my slides after I've done a presentation and always make sure my contact details are in them. They tell people a bit more about what I do as well. Pretty much all my work-related photos go up into Flickr and I can then pull them into other sites such as Facebook. Also useful having them online to show clients/potential clients without having to email huge attachments. If you work at it a bit you can link up most of your networks and then it can act like a big fishing net - you might catch something really interesting ;-) |

Thanks for Slideshare - I'd never heard of that - and I notice it integrates into LinkedIn! That led me to look at other LinkedIn applications and there was an Events list I never knew anything about. There may be some TechnetFife events we can publicise globally this year through that :) |

So far we have just used a 'Stop Press' on our own web site, and a presence on Facebook. Though it is hard to keep them up to date, sometimes I feel that companies that have a high visibility on the web have to much time on their hands! But it is something that I think we will all have to start making time for. |

Here's a useful comment on how to use Twitter appropriately for corporates. Thanks to Pauline for tweeting this! http://www.cheeze.com/blog/20090402/twittequette-twitter-and-the-art-of-inclusion/ |

I'm using LinkedIn (made new contacts to benefit our students there) and Twitter - both with the aim of increasing 'customers'. One person who came to our Info Evening tonight did so after seeing my twitter post about it! |
